BIOGRAPHY
The Vans Warped Tour has not only been one of the more successful music tours in recent years; it's also the world's longest-running. Currently in its ninth year, it causes hundreds of thousands of fans to flock annually to see over one hundred bands on multiple stages and partake in a popular culture explosion. Whereas acts like Ozzfest and Lollapalooza combine top headlining bands into a massive, corporate-sponsored affair, the Warped Tour concentrates primarily on rock and punk bands that typically slide a bit below the mainstream radar. In this vein, Vans seeks to introduce music fans to groups they might otherwise have never have heard of, and thus the underlying feeling behind the tour is less of commercialism, and more of a carefree independent atmosphere that's truly about the music.
Prior shows have featured more prominent acts, such as Bad Religion, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Reel Big Fish, as well as rising stars including Flogging Molly, New Found Glory, and Alkaline Trio.
